Corydoras weitzmani, known as the Twosaddle Corydoras or Weitzman’s Cory, is a small, peaceful armoured catfish from the Madre de Dios River drainage in Peru. Adults reach 5–6 cm in length and should be maintained in groups of at least 5–6 individuals to thrive. A tank of 60 litres or larger with a soft sand substrate is essential, as sharp gravel can damage the delicate sensory barbels. The species thrives in soft, slightly acidic water with a pH of 6.0–7.2, temperatures of 22–26 °C, and moderate hardness. The aquarium should be decorated with driftwood, smooth rocks, and shaded spots created by broad-leaved plants or floating vegetation. Like all Corydoras, these fish are facultative air-breathers and need access to the water surface. As omnivores, they accept a varied diet of high-quality sinking catfish pellets, algae wafers, and frozen or live foods such as bloodworm, Daphnia, and brine shrimp. Feeding in the evening when they are most active is recommended. Peaceful by nature, they are ideal community fish suitable for tanks with small characins, dwarf cichlids, and other small catfish. Females are noticeably rounder and broader-bodied than males when viewed from above, particularly when gravid. Breeding can be triggered by performing a cool water change to simulate the rainy season, with adhesive eggs deposited on plants or tank décor. The fry hatch after approximately 5 days and accept baby brine shrimp from birth.
