Blue velvet is one of the blue colour lines of Neocaridina davidi, which the Wikipedia species article attributes to iridophores in the shell, or to blue-toned flesh showing through where dark pigment cells are absent. That article is the only source found that covers the animal: Seriously Fish has no Neocaridina profile, FishBase covers fishes, and SeaLifeBase did not load. It publishes no temperature range, pH range, tank volume or group size, so those values in the data sheet are not verified against an independent published source. This entry also disagrees with the catalogue's other two Neocaridina pages on group size and difficulty; the entry is flagged for owner review.
