Structural safety starts with realistic assumptions: true fill level, hardscape mass, and cabinet support.

Track both hardness and alkalinity trends over time, especially when dosing CO2 and fertilizers.

Treat calculator output as planning estimates and cross-check with species-specific care requirements.

FAQ

Is this glass thickness result suitable for custom builds?

Use it as planning guidance only. Final structural decisions should be validated by professionals.

Why does total tank weight matter?

Floor load and cabinet strength are common failure points in aquarium setups.

What is the difference between dGH, dKH and ppm?

dGH reflects calcium/magnesium (general hardness); dKH reflects carbonate alkalinity. Each converts to ppm as CaCO₃ equivalent using the same numeric factor, but you cannot infer one from the other without separate tests.

Why are GH and KH on separate rows?

They measure different water chemistry. Use one test strip reading per row — do not copy GH results into KH or vice versa.

How much extra weight should I add?

Include substrate, hardscape, and hardware. A quick estimate is 10-30% of water weight.
