Description
Fluval Bio-Stratum is a freshwater planted-aquarium soil with one-millimetre powder granules. The manufacturer identifies natural volcanic soil from Mount Aso and added dormant nitrifying bacteria. It offers the fine-grained substrate for smaller aquariums or as a top layer in larger tanks. Fluval says Bio-Stratum supports neutral to slightly acidic pH and reduces carbonate hardness. Monitor the actual water and intended animals. Its bacterial formulation and advertised early activity should not be treated as proof that an aquarium has completed cycling. Follow the manufacturer’s gentle-rinsing directions without agitating the granules. Choose the quantity for the intended footprint, depth and arrangement. Check the selected product and pack rather than transferring its particle size, preparation or performance claims to other aquarium soils.
