Can Rainbow krib Live With Neon tetra?

Small characins are named among the krib's recommended tankmates, and the neon tetra fits that description, but the size gap is real: at 10 cm the krib is more than three times the neon's length, and a breeding pair turns territorial in a way a 3 cm fish caught nearby will not enjoy. Outside breeding, this species is normally the shy, retiring one in the tank rather than the threat.

Temperature is the tighter figure: the krib wants 24 to 27 °C and the neon tops out at 25, leaving only 24 to 25 °C as shared ground. pH is easier, 5 to 7.5 for both.

Keep the neon tetra's full shoal of 8 to 10 so no single fish is exposed, and give the kribs the space, at least the 80 litre tank they are measured for, to establish a territory away from open water. If the kribs pair off and start digging a spawning pit, expect them to claim a wider radius and keep the tetra shoal well clear of it rather than assume the peace will hold.
