Can Glass catfish Live With Neon tetra?

The size difference on paper, 6.5 cm against 3, does not describe a predator and its prey. The glass catfish is a micropredator taking small invertebrates and zooplankton, and its own profile calls it generally peaceful and rather timid, doing badly alongside larger or boisterous fish. A neon tetra shoal is neither of those things.

Both want soft, acidic, dimly lit water, and their ranges meet across 21 to 25 °C and pH 4 to 7.

The condition is numbers on both sides. Glass catfish form tight schools and need six or more; kept singly or in pairs they hide, stop feeding and fade. Neons want 8 to 10. Give them a mature tank with subdued light, floating plants, leaf litter and gentle flow, and feed small foods the glass catfish can take in midwater, artemia nauplii, moina and microworm alongside fine dried food. One note: the glass catfish will take eggs and fry, so this is not a tank for raising a spawning.
