Can Cherry Shrimp Live With Guppy?

Guppies and cherry shrimp like the same kind of water. They share 18 to 28 °C at pH 7 to 8. Cherry shrimp also need moderate GH and KH to rebuild their shells after each molt, so add crushed coral or a mineral supplement if your water is soft.

Adult shrimp are safe with guppies, which are very peaceful fish that spend their time near the surface. The young are another story. Baby cherry shrimp hatch as copies of the adults only a millimetre or two long, and almost all fish eat baby shrimp. Guppies are omnivores with a strong taste for small live foods such as brine shrimp and daphnia, so expect them to take some.

Dense Java moss and fine-leaved plants protect the shrimplets and the guppy fry alike, and guppies drop a new brood every 25 to 30 days. If a fast-growing shrimp colony is the goal, a shrimp-only tank breeds best. If you mainly want adult shrimp in a guppy tank, this is a sound match.
