Can Siamese fighting fish Live With Rummy-nose tetra?

Rummy-nose tetras shoal more tightly than most small tetras, and a group of 10 is the minimum. In a general community they can be combined with anabantoids, the group the betta belongs to, though the betta itself is best kept alone in most cases.

The water window is narrower than with many tetras. Rummy-noses want 24 to 27 °C and pH 5.5 to 7, so run the tank in that range, which also suits the betta at pH 6 to 7. A shoal of ten needs room, and the rummy-nose's own minimum is 80 litres.

Rummy-noses are very peaceful and do not compete well with boisterous or much larger tankmates. If the betta starts harassing the shoal, separate them.

A setup with river sand, driftwood branches and dried leaf litter brings out the best in rummy-noses, and wild bettas come from densely vegetated water, so a well-planted tank of that kind suits both.
