Can Freshwater angelfish Live With Congo tetra?

Peaceful cichlids are among the congo tetra's ideal tankmates, and a male congo, at about 8 cm, is far from the small tetras an angelfish may eat. Neither fish nips fins, which matters because the male congo's long fin extensions are ruined by fin-nippers.

Plan for size. Congo tetras need a shoal of six or more and a tank at least 120 cm long, and angelfish need a tall tank of at least 200 litres. Both do best with planting and open swimming space.

The water overlaps at 24 to 28 °C and pH 6 to 7.5. Congos can be shy with boisterous tankmates, so a calm angelfish tank suits them better than a busy community. Both fish take flake or pellets, but congos show their best colour and fin growth when live and frozen foods such as bloodworm, brine shrimp and daphnia make up a good part of the diet, and angelfish take the same foods.
