Bucephalandra sp. 'Black Pearl' is a small, slow-growing epiphyte sold for its dark, glossy leaves. Like most Bucephalandra it is best attached to driftwood or stone, where it anchors by its creeping rhizome and forms a low mat over time. Growth is very slow, so it suits accent positions rather than quick coverage. It performs best under medium light with regular CO2 injection. It is regarded as a challenging plant mainly because of its pace, since any damage takes a long time to regrow, rather than because it is fragile.
