Anubias Kirin

Kirin is an Anubias trade form that circulates among collectors, kept for its compact size and narrow, upright leaves rather than for any verified species placement. Flowgrow carries no page for this form, so the care figures listed here are general Anubias estimates rather than published values: 20 to 30 °C, pH 6 to 7.5, low light and no CO₂ enrichment needed.

Like other Anubias it is an epiphyte, attached to rock or driftwood with the rhizome left exposed, and it grows very slowly, holding its shape for long periods. It tolerates low light well and accepts harder water than most plants of its size, which makes it a dependable choice for a mid tank or a shady corner. The rhizome should never be buried in the substrate, and the plant propagates by separate plantlets that form on the mother plant, detachable once they have roots of their own. Because it stays compact at about 10 cm, it suits the front of a small aquascape, where its narrow leaves form a low, slow-growing tuft that asks for little attention.
