Description

This is the shortest pair in ADA's trimming range and the only one built around a spring. Both blade options measure 160 mm: straight is article code 106-070, curved is 106-071. That is a hand tool, not a reach-across-the-tank tool. ADA's stated jobs for it are pruning willow moss off driftwood and trimming Eleocharis acicularis and Echinodorus tenellus plant by plant in a small aquarium, which is a fair description of what the spring buys you. The blades rest open and you close them by pushing the handles together, so you can make many small cuts without regripping between them. That matters when you are picking individual stems out of a carpet rather than shearing a hedge. The trade is length. Set against the rest of the line, Pro-Scissors Short is 170 mm, Wave is 200 mm, Nude is 320 mm, and the plain Pro-Scissors run 255 mm in S, 305 mm in M and 355 mm in L. ADA points the long ones at deep water and large tanks. With a 160 mm pair you will have your forearm in the water on anything much deeper than a nano, so choose the Spring for detail work and keep something longer for the back of the tank. ADA publishes no steel grade, blade material or care instruction for it on that page; the only related item listed is the Maintenance Stand, which keeps wet blades off the cabinet.
