Can Cherry Shrimp Live With Harlequin rasbora?

Harlequins are very peaceful and make no special demands on water chemistry, which is why they fit so many community tanks. Adult cherry shrimp can do well with small, peaceful fish like these.

The water overlaps at 21 to 28 °C and pH 6.5 to 7.5, a comfortable window for both. That leaves room for the moderate GH and KH that cherry shrimp need for clean molts.

The shrimplets are the cost. Harlequins are micropredators that eat small crustaceans and zooplankton in nature, and at 4.5 cm they are more than twice the length of a chili rasbora or an ember tetra. Expect a school of 8 to 10 to find some newborn shrimp, and plant moss thickly if you want the colony to keep growing. A base of at least 60 by 30 cm suits the school, with a dark substrate and floating plants to soften the light.
