Can Cherry Shrimp Live With Ghost shrimp?

Ghost shrimp get on with peaceful bottom dwellers, cherry shrimp included, and the two share identical water ranges: 18 to 28 °C and pH 6.5 to 8.

They live differently, though. Ghost shrimp are nocturnal, hiding among plants by day and coming out at night to feed on plankton, algae and small aquatic insects. Cherry shrimp spend most of their time scavenging biofilm, algae and detritus, and they do not eat their own young, which is why their colonies build so easily.

The open question is the baby cherries. They hatch only a millimetre or two long, and ghost shrimp breeders keep their own hatchlings away from the adults, which might eat them. It is reasonable to expect the same risk for newborn cherries, so give the colony dense moss or fine-leaved plants to hide in. Like all shrimp, both species react badly to copper, and ghost shrimp to ammonia spikes as well.
