Can Cherry Shrimp Live With Dwarf rasbora?

On temperament this pairing is fine. The dwarf rasbora, Boraras maculatus, is a tiny, very peaceful fish that can be housed alongside Neocaridina shrimp in a planted tank, and at 2.5 cm it is no threat to an adult cherry shrimp.

The water is the problem. Dwarf rasboras want soft, acidic water at pH 5 to 6.5, and cherry shrimp pH 6.5 to 8 with moderate GH and KH so they can rebuild their shells after each molt. The two meet only at pH 6.5, at 20 to 28 °C, and each animal would live at the very edge of its range.

If you want a Boraras with cherry shrimp, the chili rasbora is the easier choice, since its range reaches pH 7. If you keep dwarf rasboras anyway, give them a group of at least 8 to 10, since in smaller groups they hide constantly and never show their best colour, and expect them to take some newborn shrimp: they are micropredators, and almost all fish eat baby shrimp.
