Can Siamese fighting fish Live With Ghost shrimp?

Ghost shrimp are peaceful and tough once settled, which is why they are often suggested as a first shrimp, and they get on with any calm fish too small to treat them as a snack. Larger or aggressive fish will simply eat them. A betta is not large, but it is territorial, so treat this pairing as a trial.

Adult ghost shrimp reach about 4 cm. Their young are another matter: the hatchlings are tiny and free-swimming, and even adult ghost shrimp eat them, so do not expect a colony to build up in a betta tank.

The water overlaps at 22 to 28 °C and pH 6.5 to 8. Keep the shrimp as a group rather than alone, as they are sociable foragers, and remember that shrimp react badly to copper and to ammonia spikes. The general advice on the betta, best kept alone, applies here too.
