Creeping Moss

Creeping Moss is a Vesicularia whose species has not yet been identified, and Flowgrow is open about that: it may well be that several different mosses are sold in trade under the name. The leaves are similar to those of Christmas moss, Vesicularia montagnei, but with narrower leaf cells, and the plant is easily confused with Vesicularia dubyana. It is an epiphyte or epilith moss, best attached to wood or stone, and it makes a soft, low foreground or midground carpet on hardscape. Flowgrow publishes no optimum temperature for it at all, only a tolerance of 15 to 30 °C, and this card stores that tolerance rather than inventing a narrower figure. The listed pH of 5 to 7 matches the source. Growth is steady under moderate light and it tolerates low light well. Splitting the mat and cutting off daughter plants are the usual ways to increase it. An easy, forgiving moss for beginners.
