Description
Creeping Moss is a Vesicularia whose species has never been pinned down, and more than one moss probably reaches shops under the name. It is also easily confused with Vesicularia dubyana. The growth habit is what the name describes: shoots creep across a surface rather than hanging.
That habit decides how it is used. Tied or glued to wood or stone it forms a low, soft cover, which suits the front of a nano tank or a stone that should look aged rather than bare. Height stays around 5 cm.
Its temperature range is wide: 15 to 30 °C, pH 5 to 7, carbonate hardness from 0 to 14 dKH, and light from low to high, so it survives shaded corners where stem plants fail. Carbon dioxide is listed at 20 to 40 mg/l for best growth. It can also be grown emersed, above the waterline in a paludarium. Splitting a mat and cutting away pieces is the only propagation it needs.
