Enie Rotala

Rotala 'Enie', also encountered under the spelling 'Enis', is a fine-leaved stem plant used as a red or pink accent in the middle or background.

Provide strong light; it grows fast with water at 22 to 28 °C and pH 4.5 to 7. Added CO₂ supports aquarium growth. Provide balanced nutrition and sufficient space for the group rather than increasing light alone to chase a particular colour. Green, red and pink tones can vary with the plant and its growing conditions.

Plant the stems into the substrate in a group that leaves light reaching the lower growth. Prune shoots when they become too tall or dense, and replant healthy tip or side-shoot cuttings. Compare the developing underwater foliage with the supplier's identification before assuming that a visually similar Rotala is the same plant. The useful distinction for maintenance is its fine-leaved, fast-growing stem habit, rather than the history of the trade name.
