Description
An unusually deep red Ludwigia, this cultivar was described by Christel Kasselmann in 2018 as a new deep-red aquarium plant and is treated by Flowgrow as a form of Ludwigia palustris. The colour is not automatic: it takes strong light to hold the intense tone, and under dimmer conditions the plant turns green. Easy and fast-growing, it branches readily from cuttings and earns its place as a red accent in midground and background groups, in nano tanks, and even in Dutch-style street rows. Stems can reach about 50 cm; Flowgrow lists a height of 20 to 50 cm and a modest width of only 4 to 7 cm, with paired leaves forming a bushy crown that growers pinch back to keep compact. It responds well to a moderate CO2 supply, and within its wide tolerance it grows happily in temperatures of 18 to 28 °C with a pH of 5 to 7.5, tolerating soft to moderately hard water.
