Hygrophila corymbosa is a variable Southeast Asian marsh plant, and 'Stricta' is one of its long-standing aquarium forms. What comes next therefore draws on how the plant is kept in practice rather than on the source: broad green leaves in opposite pairs, stems usually let run to roughly half a metre before topping, and reddish tints in the young leaves under strong light and heavy feeding.

Cuttings are the usual way to increase it, and topped stems establish quickly. It also grows well emersed, which is why it turns up in open tanks and paludariums.
