Description

HC Cuba is a small-leaved foreground plant used for a close, bright-green carpet. Its creeping shoots can also drape over an elevated planting area. Consistent light across the planted area, a reliable nutrient supply and good circulation matter more than buying a single dense mat. Plants raised above water need time to establish their submerged growth.

For a compact aquarium carpet, provide strong light and stable added CO₂. The published optimum temperature is 24 to 26 °C, with pH 5 to 7.

Plant small portions with gaps between them so new shoots can fill the space. Keep macro- and micronutrients available; pale new tips can indicate iron deficiency. Trim when the mat becomes thick enough to shade its lower layers, and remove loose cuttings. Replant healthy portions if an old, shaded mat begins to lift.
