White Albida

The name 'White Albida' refers to a colour form of Cryptocoryne albida, a highly variable species that Flowgrow also lists under the common name White water trumpet. There is no separate Flowgrow page for the white selection itself, so the profile follows the species page, whose description notes that different forms are known from aquarium culture, some green and some brownish, and that such forms can occur together in the same wild populations.

The plant is native to southern Myanmar and Thailand, where it belongs to the Cryptocoryne crispatula group, a cluster of related rosette species with long, narrow leaves. In the aquarium it works as a midground rosette, staying compact at about 10 cm tall — a working estimate, since Flowgrow prints no height figure for this colour form. The temperature optimum is 22 to 29 °C and the pH range is 5 to 8, with carbonate hardness of 2 to 12 dKH and carbon dioxide levels of 10 to 40 mg/l; light needs are low to high. Growth is slow, and propagation is by runners, rhizome division, or splitting. Overall it is an easy plant that forgives the occasional neglect.
