Description

A wavemaker or circulation powerhead sits in the aquarium and directs a stream of water within it. It adds water movement rather than collecting debris in a filter-media compartment. Outlet direction and flow pattern affect where the current travels. Choose the flow range and control options for the tank layout and its inhabitants. Fixed-speed and controllable models differ: TUNZE’s nanostream 6020 is fixed-speed, while the 6040 uses a controller. Pulse, feed-pause and coordinated-pump modes are features to check on the selected model, not properties of every powerhead. Match the holder to the aquarium glass thickness and follow the mounting instructions. Position and aim the outlet to establish the intended circulation, keeping the pump submerged as required. Check the selected model’s intake, propeller and cable-protection requirements for the livestock you keep; a control feature is not a guarantee against animal injury. Leave the pump accessible for inspection and cleaning. Disconnect power before handling it, remove buildup from the pump and rotor as instructed, and inspect the mount and cable. Keep the controller and power supply protected from moisture. A manufacturer’s tank-size range is a model rating, not a universal circulation target.
