UV sterilizer

Description

An aquarium UV unit exposes water flowing through an enclosed chamber to ultraviolet light. Treatment reaches organisms passing through that water path. It does not remove algae attached to tank surfaces, and a clarifier intended for suspended algae is not automatically rated for every disinfection task. Choose for the intended task using the model’s water-volume and flow guidance. Check the chamber, hose connections, mounting orientation and pump or filter compatibility. Inline products sit in a plumbing run; they should not be assumed to be submersible. Clear the required space for installation and any servicing. Install and start it in the sequence specified by its manufacturer. The Fluval inline example is connected to the filter’s output and requires established water flow before UV power is connected. Keep the enclosure intact and do not look into an operating UV lamp: exposure can damage eyes and skin. Maintenance depends on the design. Some units allow lamp replacement and quartz-sleeve cleaning, while Fluval’s sealed example has a nonreplaceable bulb and must not be opened or cleaned internally. Check the chosen unit’s lamp-life guidance and flow requirements during filter maintenance. UV treatment complements the filtration system; it does not establish a diagnosis or treatment plan for sick fish.
