Iron dose

Description

An aquarium iron supplement adds iron for plant nutrition. Iron contributes to chlorophyll production, and an iron product can supplement the amount already present in a wider fertilising programme. Check the existing inputs before adding a separate bottle. Products differ in iron form and concentration. Seachem Flourish Iron is a ferrous-gluconate example, while combined plant fertilisers can also supply iron alongside other nutrients. Compare the named product and its directions rather than treating every chelated or liquid iron as the same formulation. Seachem describes yellowing of young leaves as a possible iron-deficiency symptom, but leaf colour alone should not establish the cause of poor growth. Review the plants, conditions and complete nutrient supply, and follow the chosen product’s measurement and dosing instructions. A separate iron dose is not a guaranteed cure or a universal way to turn plants red.
