Description

Aquarium driftwood forms a decorative structure for planted layouts. Mopani is a dense hardwood with contrasting colours and a textured surface; Zoo Med’s aquarium Mopani is one example. Other driftwood types can differ in appearance and density. Choose a piece that fits the aquarium and can be placed securely. Zoo Med rates its dense Mopani as sinking immediately. For other supplied wood, follow its preparation instructions and check whether it stays submerged. Wood can release tannins that discolour the water. For Zoo Med Mopani, soak it separately and replace the soak water to reduce discolouration before use. Activated carbon in the aquarium filter can help remove remaining colour. Natural pieces vary, so follow the product’s directions rather than a universal soaking timetable.
