Digital thermometer

Description

A digital aquarium thermometer displays a temperature reading from its sensor. Designs differ in how the sensor contacts the water and where the display is mounted. Choose a model intended for your aquarium arrangement, with a readable display and a suitable measuring range. Check stated accuracy as well as display resolution; extra decimal places do not establish a smaller measurement error. Celsius/Fahrenheit selection, batteries, sensor cables and mounting hardware are product-specific features. Compare the water-temperature reading you need rather than assuming a room-temperature display measures the tank. Place the sensing part as the instructions require and allow the reading to settle. Hanna’s handheld Checktemp example senses at the probe tip and specifies an immersion limit; its whole body should not be treated as a permanently submerged aquarium probe. Check whether an aquarium model measures continuously or is intended for spot checks. Verify which components may get wet, and follow the battery, error and cleaning guidance. Keep the sensor in its intended position and inspect the mount or cable where present. If a reading is unexpected, check the instrument’s operation before relying on it to assess the aquarium’s temperature.
