Brine shrimp hatchery

Description

A brine shrimp hatchery is a container system for hatching Artemia cysts into nauplii to feed fish. Compare the working volume, container shape, mounting and collection method. The space and equipment needed depend on the selected design. Air-fed designs use a pump to keep the contents moving. HOBBY’s Easy Breeder can stand independently or mount with suction cups; its instructions describe stopping the air before collecting nauplii through the hose. Its pump needs a backflow safeguard when installed below the breeder. HOBBY’s shallow Artemia Hatchery dish is a different design that requires no aerator. Use the cyst supplier’s and hatchery’s directions for saltwater, temperature, light and loading. These conditions affect hatching; they are not universal specifications of every container. Choose a collection method that separates the live nauplii from shells and suits the quantity you need. Check what the kit includes, particularly a pump, air tubing, salt, eggs and collection sieve. Clean the hatchery as instructed between batches and protect stored eggs from moisture and heat. A hatchery for newly hatched food is not automatically a complete system for raising adult Artemia.
