Ball valve

Description

A ball valve provides quick on/off control in aquarium plumbing by rotating a bored ball. Use it to isolate a pump, reactor or section of pipe for maintenance, or for basic flow adjustment where fine control is unnecessary. For precise adjustment of a siphon drain, a gate valve gives finer control than a ball valve. Select the valve and its fittings for the actual pipe size and connection style; threaded fittings and glued slip connections need different installation methods. A union connection allows a section of plumbing to be disconnected without cutting the pipe. Plan valve and union positions so the equipment can be isolated and removed for maintenance, and follow the selected fittings’ assembly directions.
