Aquarium salt

Description

Freshwater aquarium salt is a separate product category from shrimp remineralisers and marine salt mixes. API Aquarium Salt is a freshwater example offered as supportive care during setup, water changes or certain fish-health problems. Its manufacturer states that it does not raise water hardness or change pH, so it is not a GH/KH mineral recipe. Check the selected label, the animals and the intended purpose before use. API warns that some live plants are salt-sensitive and says its salt is not a complete treatment for fish disease. Avoid treating a general supportive-care claim as a diagnosis or assuming one salt concentration suits every aquarium. Account for salt already in the water. API states that aquarium salt does not evaporate or get removed by filtration, so replacing evaporated water is different from replacing water removed during a change. Use the actual product directions and water-change volume rather than repeatedly dosing the whole tank without tracking what remains.
