The argument for a dual-stage regulator on a planted tank comes down to one failure mode. As a CO2 cylinder empties, a single-stage regulator's output pressure creeps up, and the last of the gas can dump into the tank fast enough to kill everything in it. CO2Art builds the Pro-SE with two stages to flatten that curve and says so directly: the design minimises the rise in output pressure as cylinder pressure falls, which is what prevents end-of-tank dump. What CO2Art lists in the box: an integrated solenoid valve running on 12 V DC with a universal 100 to 240 V power adapter, a needle valve, and a bubble counter with a check valve built in. Two gauges read cylinder contents and working pressure separately. Working pressure is adjustable to around 40 PSI (3 bar), which is far more than a ceramic diffuser asks for and enough to drive an inline atomiser or a marine setup. The current generation is described as a redesign with larger internal springs for pressure stabilisation. Order the right thread. The default part (CA-PRO-SE-W21) uses the BS341 / DIN477 / W21.8 fitting standard in the UK, Europe, Japan and Taiwan; North American cylinders need the CGA320 version. Getting it wrong means an adapter or a return. Because the regulator is two-stage, CO2Art states it works with any size of CO2 cylinder, so the choice between a small bottle and a 2 kg one is about refill trips, not compatibility. No flow rate, weight or body dimension is published for this unit, so treat any spec beyond the pressure range as a retailer's addition.
